The piano remains one of the great achievements of musical instrument design and has long served as a primary brain development "tool" for humans worldwide. One-on-one lessons in the comfort of your home or online that are appropriate for adults and children 5 years old and up, from little or no music background to advanced (3 or 4 years old might be accepted upon audition). With more than 17 years of experience teaching, Ms. Muller learned to pay close attention and to adapt to students' needs. She begins her lessons with an additive strategy in the classical style where she introduces appropriate piano literature and fundamental technique for performance skills and musicianship. As time progresses, Val likes to venture out and introduce her students to different genres of music such as: traditional, religious, jazz, and pop. This will also include the study of music history, music theory, ear training, and performance practice. Her curriculum is individually developed in a fun environment to help students expand their musicianship, build character and leadership skills. Additionally, little students will learn discipline, enhanced public speaking, and lastly, prepare to be the leaders of tomorrow. Hence Miss Muller's motto: "Where music makes us better people!" Each semester will end with a studio recital, and she encourages students to perform in national and international competitions and piano days throughout North Carolina.

Requirements
Home practice is essential for student success! Daily individual practice at the piano (fingernails must be kept short); one day off per week is recommended. The rule of thumb for practice time is to spend 6 sessions per week, each session being the length of the lesson. So, a student taking a 30-minute lesson every week should be practicing 30 minutes each day, six times a week. If you have questions about the length of time of your daily practice, please speak with me. Please keep in mind that it is the quality of practice that determines your progress, not merely the number of hours spent at the piano. In the beginning, parental involvement in home practice is crucial for student’s advancement. Please help your child establish and stick to a practice routine, and see that practice time is as free as possible from distractions. Ask them to perform for you and check their weekly assignments notebook to ensure they are doing their work.
